The Perfect Love by Ruth Myers

I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Myers’ book, ‘The Perfect Love’. This book was like being wrapped in God’s love each time I settled down and read in it. Even so, this isn’t light, frivolous reading. God’s love is deep, powerful, and awesome.  This book attempts to show us just how much so His love is all these things and so much more.  I’m sure she didn’t attempt or expect it to be an exhaustive study on the matter, but it is very well covered.  Obviously no human can ever cover the topic of God’s love in a totally unabridged way because we can only fathom so much of His love.  It is an ever ongoing study for each of us.  Still Ruth does a great job of showing the reader a vast amount of what she has learned on the subject.

I feel this should be a must read for new converts and mature Christians alike.  The book is so rich and full of treasures that most of the time we never hear in today’s pulpits nor read in most of the disciplining materials.  Things that we really need to be aware of, to meditate upon, and grow/mature toward/into.

I most definitely recommend this to friends, family, and everyone else.

Opening The Gates Of Heaven by Perry Stone

Opening The Gates Of Heaven: Walk in the Favor of Answered Prayer and Blessing,  is a book about prayer. Perry draws from scripture and various other sources such as personal and family ministry experience, his dad’s teachings, and more to give the reader a comprehensive teaching on the subject.  The book consists of two hundred fifty-one pages and includes an introduction, seventeen chapters of text, a conclusion, and notes.

He starts out teaching about Jacob and his vision of a ladder or stairway that angels went from Heaven to earth upon.  Next he teaches on gates and their significance upon our prayers.  He likens the gates of the temple to our five senses.  Perry shows that as believers we each are temples of the Holy Spirit and our senses are the gates of relating not only to the world but the Holy Spirit as well.  Next he touches upon the types and number of spices used in the temple in the Old Testament and likens them to the eleven plus types of prayer referred to in the New Testament.  As you can see, Perry goes into a great deal of detail in this book.  I’m not going to outline everything he went over as why then would you read the book for yourself?

There are some things Perry writes that people will argue over so my suggestion is, read the book,  then search the scriptures and rely on the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth as Jesus tells us He will in the Bible.

Israel – Should Israel Exist? Should She Inhabit the Land?

There is a lot of talk these days about Israel.  Many are upset with her for even claiming her homeland and call her an invader or worse.  Some even go so far as to want her pushed into the sea and all the Jewish people of the world wiped off the face of the earth.  Of course those same people would like to eliminate Christians as well.

In ‘A Covenant Forever’ by Dr. Jeremiah he discusses this issue briefly.  It isn’t an in-depth coverage, but rather short, and to the point.  DavidJeremiah.org – Magazine.

Days With Jesus Part One by Jim Jackson

‘Days With Jesus: Exploring the Mysterious Life of Jesus through the Eyes of His Best Friend’ by Jim Jackson is what Mr. Jackson calls a ‘Docuvotional’.  It is a term he coined to describe his goal for the book.  The ‘Docu’ part stands for documentary.  Which is due to his following the life of Jesus as told by John in the Gospel of John.  He also includes important historical, theological, and philosophical elements in each section.  The other part of ‘Docuvotional’ of course is the ‘votional’ part which represents a devotional aspect of the book.  The book is set up as thirty-one days rather than chapters.  Each day starts with a short devotional at the beginning of that day.  Then Mr. Jackson delves into the text from John for the day tying the text from the Bible and the devotional together.  Each ‘day’ has at least one asterisk in the text and at the end of the book more information is given relating to the asterisk.  Each day also has questions at the end of the day to help the reader think more deeply about the text and how it relates to his/her life.  Plus, not in the book but meant to be viewed daily are videos filmed on location that gives a better understanding of it all too.

This is a fresh twist in Bible study.  I thoroughly enjoyed each of Mr. Jackson’s devotionals at the beginning of each day.  Plus the information he includes with each passage of scripture is both interesting and thought-provoking.  The questions at the end of each day do a good job of bringing it to the reader as well.

I appreciate Mr. Jackson’s commitment to encouraging those who don’t know Jesus yet as personal Lord and Savior, to take that step and ask Jesus into their lives.  It isn’t harsh or abrasive, simply a gentle invitation given several times.

Over all I think this is a great book and would recommend it to one and all.

Quick Update 05/07/12

Reading a couple of books that I’ll be doing reviews on soon.  I have also been doing some upkeep on my social media sites, so the reading isn’t going as quickly as it would otherwise.  Even so, I expect to be writing one or more reviews within the next two or three days.

More later, Lord willing.  :)

An Illustration of 1 Peter 5:8…

God’s word warns us that satan goes about as a roaring lion looking for whom he may devour.

Here is a chilling illustration of that verse. (Thankfully the lion was unable to get to the child, but it was trying with all its might to do so and the child would have been devoured before anyone could have stopped it if the lion could have gotten to the child.)

Video captures wild lion encounter at Oregon Zoo – KPTV – FOX 12.
